China's "Jingdezhen Handicraft Porcelain Industry Heritage" was approved at the 48th session of the World Heritage Committee in Busan on July 25, becoming the country's 61st UNESCO World Heritage site. Spanning five components across 1,979 hectares - including imperial kiln ruins, ancient porcelain-clay and stone mines, and transport routes - it is China's first heritage site inscribed under the "industrial heritage" category, filling a long-standing gap for porcelain alongside silk and tea as pillars of China's historic global trade.
