About the Artist

Lü Ruda, also known by his artistic name Master of Chrysanthemum Studio, was born in 1942. He serves as an advisor to the Shanghai Haishang Painting Institute, director of the Shengzhou Painting Institute, and Associate Research Fellow at the Shengzhou Cultural Center. Recognized as one of Shengzhou City’s First Outstanding Talents in Science and Technology and an Advanced Cultural Master of Zhejiang Province, he has held notable roles such as the Third People’s Representative of Shaoxing City and a longstanding member of the Shengzhou City CPPCC Committee.

A member of the Chinese Arts and Crafts Association and the Zhejiang Province and Shanghai City Artists Associations, Lü has dedicated over six decades to artistic creation. He has hosted multiple solo exhibitions at prestigious venues like the Shanghai Art Museum and the China Military Museum, and has published over ten art collections, including Chinese Modern and Contemporary Masters Painting Collection: Lü Ruda (Red Robe Series).

Proficient in traditional Chinese musical instruments, Lü has focused on studying Guqin (ancient zither) in recent years. His album Lü Ruda’s Original Guqin Twenty-Four Pieces, published by Shanghai Music Publishing House, was featured in the “Xuexi Qiangguo” (literally it means empower the State through learning) column by the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee. He holds positions as Vice President of the International Guqin Wellness Association and Member of the Chinese Guqin Association, and is recognized as the Representative Inheritor of Shaoxing School Guqin Art, part of Shengzhou City’s Intangible Cultural Heritage.
